Katherine
TerrellLewis Von Schlambusch 8 p.m. April 3, 2004 First United Methodist Church Port Huron, Michigan Soprano Katherine
Terrell and baritone Lewis Von Schlambusch have appeared with the
most prestigious orchestras in North America in repertoire ranging from
opera and oratorio to operetta and symphony "pops". Having gained
particular acclaim in the symphony "pops" circuit, "Kathy and Lew", as
their audiences have affectionately grown to call them, have performed
with the symphonies of Chicago, Boston, Pittsburgh, Los Angeles (at the
Hollywood Bowl), Cincinnati, Detroit, Toronto, Houston, Atlanta, St.
Louis, Vancouver and many more. A fifteen year association with
the "King of Pops", Maestro Erich Kunzel, led Kathy and Lew to a star
studded musical extravaganza called Sympantasy
with the Cincinnati Symphony, that was taped by
Disney/Touchtone Pictures for broadcast on PBS Television. Also
taped for television was their exciting debut in China performing with
the combined symphonies of Guangzhou and the Hong Kong Sinfonietta in a
three city tour of China. For an audience
of 15,000, Kathy and Lew debuted with the Boston Pops in a concert
featuring Broadway's Greatest Hits.
A debut with the Utah Symphony also took the duo on a three city tour
in Utah with their newly commissioned George Gershwin show, Crazy For George! By popular
demand, the duo returned to the St. Louis Symphony at Queeny Park for
their seventeenth consecutive season with Maestro/arranger Richard
Hayman. The duo also traveled with the Syracuse Symphony on a
seven city tour with their The Best
of Broadway concerts. Kathy and Lew returned to the Erie
Philharmonic for a concert entitled On
Broadway with Maestro Jeff Tyzik conducting. With Maestro Steven
Larson and the Rockford Symphony, they performed their increasingly
popular Crazy For George!
concerts. This past season, debuts took the duo to the Portland
Symphony in Maine, and the Champaign-Urbana Symphony in Broadway Favorites concerts.
A concert featuring the music of Cole Porter and George Gershwin marked
their debut with the Southwest Michigan Symphony and Maestro Robert
Vodnoy conducting. This season, more
debuts take Kathy and Lew to the Stamford Symphony and the Birmingham
Philharmonic. Next season, they will debut with the Phoenix
Symphony featuring Broadway Favorites
with Maestro Robert Moody conducting. Seasoned and
polished performers, Kathy and Lew have been lavishly praised for their
outstanding theatricality, their compelling chemistry and their
beautiful sonorous voices. These versatile artists perform,
choreograph and narrate their concerts in such a fashion that audiences
rise to their feet in unanimous standing ovations time and time
again. |
